On my Delish List: Max Brenner
Next stop on my food tour through NYC was Max Brenner.  After seeing Wicked on Friday night with my friends Lisa and Michelle, we thought we could use a dose of chocolate for dinner!  It was 11:30pm and Max Brenner was hoppin’!  Within 10 minutes we were seated and we were all starving.  The sweet smell of chocolate fills the restaurant and there incredible chocolate desserts flying out of the kitchen!  We had to keep from staring at the other people’s tables.
Since we didn’t eat dinner before seeing Wicked, I was craving something in the dinner category.  I ended up going against normal Max Brenner protocol and ordered the Tofu Zen Bistro sandwich.  I was less than satisfied with the sandwich.  While the guacamole was quite awesome, the rest of the sandwich fell short.  The tofu was raw and the bread was cold.  I regretted not listening to my mother and ordering the fondue.
Good thing I was with Lisa and Michelle because they both ordered crepes that were INCREDIBLE!  Lisa ordered the Peanut Butter Crepe and Michelle went with the Banana Hazelnut Cream Crepe.  Talk about a party in your mouth!  By the end of the meal, they both had licked their plates clean!  I only managed to steal a bite or two, because those girls were NOT sharing!
So my words of advice are, Max Brenner’s is for dessert, not for the food!  Also, we managed to get lucky and quickly got a table, but there is usually a crazy long line!  But, I’ll tell you one thing, I would wait on line for those crepes!
Stay tuned for the rest of my Delish Adventures in NYC

“Jenga, Jenga, Jenga” French Toast Sticks Tower with Berries and Bananas
Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with my 4 and 6 year old cousins, Jackson and Trent.  We spent the afternoon playing Guitar Hero, looking through my telescope and playing hide & seek.
Spending time with them got me thinking about how much I miss being a kid.  I miss being able to eat noodles smothered with butter and salt, eating big slices of carrot cake with a side of chocolate milk.  Or taking bubble baths and putting the bubbles on my face to pretend like I was Santa Claus.
When I got up this morning, I decided that I was going to make a breakfast that made me feel like a kid again.
What You Need:
2 Slices Bread
1 Egg
1 Egg White
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
Splash of Milk
Cinnamon Sugar
Peanut Butter
Sliced Berries
Sliced Bananas
Honey
Maple Syrup
1. In a shallow dish, mix together the egg white, egg, vanilla extract, milk and 1 Tsp of cinnamon sugar.  Then, grease a pancake griddle/pan and set on medium heat.
2. Soak the slices of bread so that they are completed coated with the egg mixture on both sides.  Place both slices onto the pre-heated pan.  Heat the slices on both sides so that the egg mixture is completely cooked.
3. Remove the french toast from the pan and slice into 1/2” thick strips.  Create a log cabin/jenga style tower with the strips.  Fill the middle of the tower with the berries and bananas.
4. Serve with a side of 3 dipping options.  Peanut Butter/Honey dipping sauce, cinnamon sugar and maple syrup.

PB&J Almonds = heaven

delishyourdish:

Delish Detector!- Sahale Snacks

We at Delish Your Dish are going nuts for Sahale Snacks!  Sahale Snacks have forever changed our view of almonds, cashews, peanuts and nuts.  They have managed to take an ordinary snack and create a combination of flavors that are unlike anything we’ve ever had.

Picture yourself indulging in a handful of their PB&J Almonds, which is a mixture of lightly glazed almonds, peanuts, strawberries and raspberries.  Or maybe you’re more of a cashew fan, which would lead to fall in love with their Pomegranate Cashews.  The cashews are perfectly flavored with vanilla, pomegranate and apple.  But, if you’re looking for a salty-sweet mixture, their Honey Almonds are the choice for you.  The almonds are sweetened with honey and cranberries and have just a pinch of sea salt to complete the exquisitely unique flavor.

Not only are Sahale Snacks great for a snack on the run, but would also be perfect to add onto any salad, snack or smoothie recipe.

We’ve become big fans of Sahale Snacks and hope you become one too!

*This is also a perfect snack for those on The Zone Diet!

“You’re Killing Me Smalls”- Peanut Butter Dipped S’mores with Grilled Bananas
“First you take the graham, you stick the chocolate on the graham.  Then you roast the mallow…”  I’m not sure if there is anyone in the world that doesn’t love the movie The Sandlot or s’mores.  So while I was browsing through my movie collection the other night, I not only got a urge to watch The Sandlot, but I also got a craving for s’mores.  But, since I was in the mood to get a little creative, I took the normal s’mores idea and suped it up a little.  I’m not sure if I’m ever going back to regular s’mores.
What You Need (Makes 2 Sandwiches):
2 Sheets of Honey Graham Crackers
2 Tbsp Peanut Butter (My favorites are Skippy All-Natural or Justin’s)
1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips
2 Tbsp Marshmallow Fluff
1/2 Banana
1. Break the 2 sheets of graham crackers in half.  Set Aside.  Then in a small bowl place the peanut butter.  Melt the peanut butter in the microwave for about 45 seconds or until super smooth and creamy.  Drop each graham cracker into the peanut butter.  Be sure that the cracker is coated completely.  Then place them onto a piece of wax paper and place in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes.
2. Once the peanut butter has become hard, pour the chocolate chips into a microwave bowl.  Melt in the microwave in 30 seconds intervals until the chocolate is smooth.  Then spread a layer of melted chocolate onto the peanut butter coated squares.  Place back in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes or until the chocolate has become hard.
3. Then, heat a small greased sautee pan on low-medium heat.  Toss the banana slices into the pan and brown on both sides.  Set aside.
4. Then remove the grahams from the freezer and spread a thin layer of marshmallow fluff on top of the chocolate portion.  Then add the bananas.  You can serve it open faced or make into a sandwich.

“ChocoMonster” Four Layer Cookie, Brownie, Funfetti Cake with Homemade Chocolate Frosting and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
I think this cake will have to be classifed as Semi-Homemade, as well as a “This is Why You’re Fat” cake.  This weekend I had the pleasure of making this glorious cake that was pretty much devoured within minutes of cutting into it.
What You Need:
Cake:
1 Box Funfetti Cake (plus ingredients needed on box)
1 Box Brownie Mix or Brownie Cookie Mix (plus ingredients needed on box)
1-2 Rolls of Chocolate cookie dough (depends on how thick of a cookie you want)
6 Individually wrapped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Frosting:
1 pound fine-quality semisweet chocolate such as Callebaut
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter
1. Bake the cookies, brownies, and funfetti according to packages.  I used a 9-inch round pan for each.  Allow each of them to cool on a cooling rack before arranging the cake.  The funfetti cake will make 2 nine inch cakes.
2. For the frosting:
Finely chop chocolate. In a 1 1/2- to 2-quart saucepan bring cream, sugar, and corn syrup to a boil over moderately low heat, whisking until sugar is dissolved. Remove pan from heat and add chocolate, whisking until chocolate is melted. Cut butter into pieces and add to frosting, whisking until smooth.
Transfer frosting to a bowl and cool, stirring occasionally, until spreadable (depending on chocolate used, it may be necessary to chill frosting to spreadable consistency). I found that stirring this over a bowl of ice water did a great job of cooling it off quickly and evenly.
Spread frosting between cake layers and over top and sides. Cake keeps, covered and chilled, 3 days. Bring cake to room temperature before serving.
3. Once the frosting is at the desired texture, lay the cookie layer on the bottom of the dessert dish.  To ensure that frosting doesn’t mess up your presentation, lay a few pieces of wax paper under the cookie layer.

4. Spread a thin layer of frosting on the cookie layer.  Add crumbled Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.  Next lay 1 of the funfetti cakes on top of the cookie layer.  Spread frosting and sprinkle Reese’s Cups.  Then add the brownie layer.  Spread frosting.  Then, add the last layer of Funfetti cake.  Cover entire cake with frosting.

5. Decorate with colorful frostings and candy pieces.

“There’s No Wrong Way to Eat…A Delish Peanut Butter Cup”- Peanut Butter Cups
Chocolate and peanut butter is one of those duos that I believe is a favorite to everyone.  You really can’t go wrong when it comes to putting chocolate and peanut butter together.  It’s pretty much like a party in your mouth.  So I found a chocolate peanut butter cup recipe that totally rocks!  I know I’m usually one to use original recipes, but why change something that is already good?
What you need:
1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup Peanut Butter (I used the whipped peanut butter)
1/2 cup confectioners sugar.
12 Cupcake wrappers
1. Place cupcake wrappers in muffin tins (I used medium sized muffin tins). Set Aside.
2. In a microwave safe dish, melt 1/2 bag of chocolate chips.  Once the chocolate melted, scoop small spoonfulls of the chocolate into the bottom of the muffin cups.  Gently bring some of the chocolate up the sides of the muffin cups.  Once all cups are filled, place in freezer for about 5 minutes.

3. While the cups are in the freezer, melt 1 cup of peanut butter in the microwave.  Then add 1/2 cup of confectioners sugar to the melted peanut butter.  Stir until all the ingredients are incorporated.
4. Remove chocolate cups from freezer.  Add small spoonfulls of peanut butter to the chocolate cups. Gently shake or tap the tray so that the peanut butter evens out.  Then place the tray back into the freezer for about 5-10 minutes.

5. Meanwhile, melt the remaining chocolate chips in the microwave.  Then remove the tray from the freezer and top the peanut butter layer with chocolate.  Tap the tray and even out the chocolate.  Place back in the freezer/fridge to set.
